I don't think anyone here can claim to have attained perfect inner peace.

Chess, peace is not the absence of war/stress/trouble.
To me it's being able to stay calm in the midst of it all. Overcoming it regardless.
The source of that ability to stay calm is what matters to me the most.
Some sources fluctuate depending on the degree of the storm.
Mine doesnt.

My inner peace comes from Christ Jesus.

A worried mind is a troubled mind that is not at peace. Even though mankind in past civilizations had a rougher time surviving the elements and avoiding imminent dangers than modern man, it is modern man who is consumed by worry.

Throughout all cultures writers have written about the worry men experience, both real and imaginary, as they face a multitude of challenges in the journey of life. Job wrote: "Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble (Job 14:1)." An old Chinese saying goes: "the mind is man’s best friend or his worst enemy."

Humans worry because they lack knowledge of the future and fear their limited capacity. Mothers worry whether their children will be safe, responsible, well adjusted. Children worry whether they are living up to their parents expectations. Students and lawyers worry whether they will pass exams and have made persuasive arguments. Doctors worry whether they gave the correct diagnosis and if their patients will be cured. Patients worry whether the treatment will be effective and they will regain their health. The list of people worrying about themselves and others is endless.

Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States, told the country during the Great Depression that the greatest fear was fear itself. Now George McDonald wrote the following about worry. "No man ever sank under the burden of the day. It is when tomorrow’s burden is added to the burden of today that the weight is more than a man can bear. Never load yourselves so. If you find yourselves so loaded, at least remember this: It is your doing, not God’s. He begs you to leave the future to Him, and mind the present."

Mankind is in a constant state of worry about anything and everything. Even the Messiah’s disciples worried. In response to their concern He told them: "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in Elohim (God), believe also in me (John 14:1)."

So clearly, worry is a symptom of a greater problem of mankind’s inability to tap into the spiritual and psychological power latent within the psyche, which is the Holy Spirit and Comforter (Jn. 14:26). Modern man does not fully understand this.

Chess I already gave u my answer but seems like it passed you.
So here is what.My peace is from Christ.
Not club,alcohol,yoga,fashion,job,relationships,family or friends.
They (family, job, relationships)matter A LOT, but without inner peace, I cannot sustain a good relationship anywhere and with anybody.
How do I know I have inner peace?
I mentioned earlier that peace is not the absence of war. It's the ability to weather storms and stay calm all through.
The peace within does not react to external forces.Come rain or sun it's there.
It radiates through you and is evident in your day to day interactions.
It ends up giving you favour among men(people) and opening doors of opportunity in the long run.

Here is what I can tell you,Peace doesn't build character, but storms do.
This is why we should always appreciate/embrace challenges, instead of running away from them.
I don't understand what it means to seek inner peace cz it just shows when storms come my way.

I hope nimekupa jibu la kutosha.

I experienced depression for twenty or so years, but now I tell myself I am in heaven. I have inner peace.

For me it was a long journey of faith, storm and stress.

But, how everything took a turn is beyond rational expression. And now that I am thinking of it, I realize that this matter must be irrational, and illogical. It must involve speaking in tongues. Like Buddha's expression with the lotus.

If I were to describe inner peace, I'd say it is dancing with God. Being the Man God.

Behemoth - Fear is a tricky issue for me.I approach life in a religious view and one thing I struggle with is fear though my fear is irrational and based in sin. Let me explain, Jesus told us not to worry but Solomon told us that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and David that God doesn't like ignorance. That's where my journey of seeking humility started and attempting to give in to the will of God. I also see the irony in modern man. I can't remember the 'guru' who said it but he said something that resonated with me. Modern man has learnt to more or less cultivate and master his external world but we are no different than the cave man when it comes to the internal world(psychological and spiritual).Even Carl Jung(one of the founders of psychoanalyis) said the greatest threat of our time is not external but from internal.I'm of the opinion people are not conscious or fully aware as they should be.

@Essyk - I don't like assuming. Though in other posts you have expressed your stand I always feel it's better to clarify matters. Like you I can't sustain a good relationship unless my inner world is in a way 'balanced'. You say inner peace comes from being able to weather storms. I totally agree. In the sense that Jesus says that we should seek to be perfect like the Father in heaven is perfect. God exists beyond the concept of time so we should seek to be the same and act the same as time passes through good and bad times.
