How many have complied and paid up and who is supposed to pay? Are freehold plot owner supposed to pay and what are the rates amounts?

Does anyone know how much land rates are in upmarket areas / acre or hectare / year?

I remember Gumo recently saying that he was paying 9k in rates for his 1/2 acre property in Muthaiga. It's the time he was acting as local govt minister and was complaining that 9k was too little for a 70m property and was proposing that rates be increased.

Been billed Kes 1,200 for an 1/8 acre plot which I plan to pay, the waiver period was extended to October 2012

And i was with someone in mavoko and he has been asked to pay sh.1200 for an acre and am also paying sh.1200 for an 1/8 acre. Doesn't the size of the land matter? forgive my ignorance.
