the middle class in kenya is obsessed with expensive products and services.

from - hospitals (child birth), car servicing (the monroes and robs), education (the academies), shopping (the nakumatts).

all these are way too expensive and the odd thing is that, there are relatively cheaper alternatives.
these guys know this and price their products / services very high and are making a killing.

Another person trying to understand Kenians?

Peculiar .... habits. Ring a bell.

But come to think of it. It is the convenience.

Most have two jobs and time to move around from one place to another to buy at bargain prices is simply not available.

Why not visit one place, buy everything I need and move on?

My penny thoughts.

True, honestly where is the time to move around??

But here is what.I only enter places that fit my budget!
I don't know why people prefer enriching others with their suffering habits at their own expense, forgetting that Nakumatt is in business while they are in survival.

eg. A dude took a loan to buy these wall to wall flat screen tv,uploaded it on Fb for all to see!
But dude keeps borrowing cash to make ends meet.
Credit card shoppers ni wengine.haha.
Do as you wish but dont be a burden to others.

That is the only way to show the world that they have arrived. While most of them are deep in debt due to mortgages, car loans etc etc.

...its a worldwide phenomenon, being financial prudent is rocket science to many...thats why you might get 1 person earning 300k a month is worse off compared to someone earning quarter that...we love being accepted and 1 way to achieve that is by getting everything big...
