Yes, it was the one in Zambia.

Read the article and watch the video of it.

http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/01/08/video-bungee-jump-a-near-disaster-as-australian-woman-plunges-into-african-river/

While at vic falls, I almost made the jump on that very one.

I'm sure that she was glad that the Zambezi was below.

I've had the priviledge to do the Zambezi bungee (plus two other activities) on two occassions:
- Several months before the reported mishap involving that Australian lady.
- A few months after the mishap.

It's one fabulous scenery down there - The victoria falls behind you, Zambia to the left and Zimbabwe to the right.
You stand on an ancient bridge that doubles as a train passage between the two nations with the Zambezi roaring away, some 111+ metres beneath your feet.

You get to choose from a set of 3 different activities: the slide, the bungee jump and the bridge swing.

With no visible sign of any organised rescue team in the vicinity of the river:
- The slide lets you partake in a low-adrenaline suspended crossing of the Zambezi from one bank to one end of the bridge.
- The bungee jump packs more adrenaline together with some element of surprise; you never know which way the bounces will twist you towards at the points of tension on the cord.
- The bridge swing accords you some fabulous 360 degrees view of the sorrounding in addition to the adrenaline.

All three activities would set you back some $120 (there was talk of hiking this in Q3 of this year).

There is also a local variant of the story about one dignitary doing themselves an injustice; only that the VIP in this case is quoted as some local chief.

It's an adventure I'd recommend over and over to anyone who gets the chance to indulge in.

@essk, yep, this old mama here too a dip... and was dissapointed she dint hit the water... so the thing is still in the bucket... to be done before the bones start squeaking! Well they have but we can push them alittle bit one more time!

anyone wanting to take a plunge, talk to Leona..... she's been organizing and there's one that will be happening in Nov....

If you think Sagana is scary, try Jinja! in Jinja, they just tie a 'towel' round your feet and some rope.... if you swing the wrong side you splash your brain to be fish food from the impact of the rocks! This is where Sagana 9 should be headed in the not so far future....smile smile
