Ive been to the Japanese car exporting sites.. most of the cars on sale especially those 5-8 years old have done almost 80,000kms on average.... beats me why they all dilly dally around 50-60K kms when get into the Kenyan Market...

What makes it worse is with more than 4 years on Kenyan roads the same car will still be under 100,000kms when it hits the market...

when buying a car.. its good to ask the year of manufacture.. then do the maths.. that way you know if you are dealing with a genuine seller...

If you buy a new car from toyota they give you 15,000 km to 20,000 km to get full efficiency. I have seen second hand cars reading 20k or 30 something km, you just imagine its the best range all the way to 85,000 km.

In mombasa the business of rewinding car millage is thriving. Compare that with what you have.

Just completed 506km 100% town driving in the 2,000cc Premacy (read mor about it here: http://www.wazua.co.ke/f...=322903&#post322903)

Total fuel consumed = 66L

Consumption rate [town running] = 7.7km/L

Good or bad? You tell me!

@Benzino....pretty much the same as what I had heard. Thanks for confirming.

Anyone with details on the RunX/Allex?
20Km/Ltr (highway) & 14Km/Ltr (town) sounds too high.

with a Runx i do 42km daily, monday to friday and i use 3k on fuel for 2 weeks...but am on the road when there are few cars so i never wait in traffic...its roughly 14km/L (it's parked on weekends)

Meaning that with the relative minimal driving, your car will have done 76,440km in 7yrs. And yet we have 7yr old Japanese imports reading '40000'km?

Make a more accurate measurement; fill up the car, run(x) it for two weeks and fill again. Now check the km done and the litres consumed.

Jut make sure you dont branch to those roadside Nakumatt and Tuskys to buy groceries.
Go straight home.

Do you switch off the engine when the traffic comes to a standstill?

Applause Applause Applause Applause Ouch!!

Foz00, you took this right out of my mind. With the kind of traffic that has been on Nairobi this week, the measure should surely be hours/litre. I fuelled 3000 bob at Kshs. 106 i.e 28 litres on Sunday. 145 km later today my fuel gauge is just about to read 'E'nough. Thats about 5km/ litres.

On the other hand if I consider that I spent about 16.5 hours to cover that distance then I would be saying 1.7hours/litre.

The tragedy of the driving class! No wonder my mum says we young people are the cross of a crazy generation and a mad one.
