Doors of opportunity don't just open , they have to be unlocked & it's up to you to turn the knob.

the disconnection was not meant for unregistered lines.
I might be wrong, but I don't think the mobile providers have the same database of the phone serials - there might be situations where a handset will work on one network and not on the other

this whole business is just the government being pushed to do the bidding for larger phone manufacturers. the patent for the cellphone expired in 1989 and therefore ANYONE CAN MAKE PHONES. The government should prove that the cellphone in my hand is an illegality before switching it off. A huge case is coming their way.

We have the CCK which is supposed to regulate communications in Kenya and their mandate involves among others the approval and licensing of all telecommunications vendors (with the power to shut down and fine the unlicensed ones) and the approving of all telecommunications gadgets being sold and marketed in Kenya.

Then there is the anti counterfeit agency and the Kenya Bureau of Standards also with clear mandates on counterfeits and standards.

So all these bodies neglect their work and thousands of Kenyans relying on them doing their duty buy mobile phones. And after years they suddenly remember to do their work and switch off the innocent Kenyans who mostly had no idea that the phones they were buying were counterfeit.

Someone should be lodging a suit against the government here for replacement phones.
