exchange rate also plays a part in the math... this time last yr the rate was lower by 10 bob... which means for US$5000 you save upto 50K

On a need to know basis....

KRA has reviews its Current retail Selling pricing effective August 2009 for all used cars in the market which is having an effect of increasing the Amount of duty/Excise and VAT payable for the vehicles. This has resulted to slight change in vehicle pricing. i.e. Duty for a new look Toyota premio / Allion year of manufacture 2002 before the month of August is approximately Ksh. 256,000. Any car manufacture in 2002 in the month of September taking into consideration we are in August is deemed to be a 2003 car and hence duty payable is approximately Ksh. 350,000.

Its now summer in Japan and therefore cars are slightly cheaper depending on the model now as many people have offered their cars for sale
