According to Business Daily,Kenya’s image abroad is likely to suffer injuries from now henceforth. Apparently ICC has previously only intervened in failed states. So Kenya looks like a near failed state that cannot sort out its own mess.

Should we be prepared for rough times? With the current water shortage, failed rains hence not enough food, high fuel costs, looming power rationing starting Aug’09,looming high electricity costs and now ICC,the situation cannot be worse!!!! Do you think foreign investors might start offloading from NSE…Or that we might see less foreign direct investments due to a combination of above factors? Methinks MK has only one option if he wants to redeem Kenya’s image and this is by catching the international community and all MPs by surprise by accepting intervention by ICC in total. In so doing,he should say 'Following intelligence reports,it has been found that a local tribunal could divide the country further. Kenya will henceforth support trials for PEV perpetrators at ICC and will give any necessary assistance, since this is the only way that justice can be obtained for the victims, and also achieve lasting peace'. It would be better to seem to work with ICC,than to seem like you are against and the decision is being imposed on you.

Powerful leaders throughout history always knew the point at which to give in whenever faced by a rock and a hard place. Even Moi always knew when to give in. MK and the self styled Enigma of African politics have no option.

Indeed, dragging the issue to parliament again can only embarrass Kenya further and enhance perception out there that we are just another banana republic…Annan has done the unexpected. Our principles should also just do the unexpected. There is no other option. Otherwise their legacy and Kenya’s image abroad will be deeply hurt.

As an Skerian,I acknowledge that I have benefited immensely from the info posted here by others. There4,I promise to assist others in the same way by responding to request for info,as long as am privileged in the subject issue..SK Pledge..

I seem to agree with your concerns while hoping that something positive happens before we go down. For as Kenyans,we cannot afford another down, not after PEV,Hunger,IDPs,Failed rains,Political neglect,Rise in Crime,Poverty and of course, the near collapse of tourism.

MK,RAO - now is the time to do something for the good of Kenya and all Kenyans, not just a select few. Annan has done his part, over to you.

You may not agree with me on this but in my opinion the Hague could be the best or worst thing to happen to this great nation. Our judiciary has failed and impunity is the order of the day. As I said 'peace is not the absence of war' and if we don't resolve or seem to resolve the 2008 crisis,it will recur in 2012 and imagine what the perpetrators of the 2008 killings will do then if they get away effortlessly this time.
I don't know if we are a failed state because our laws have no enforcers but I sure think it's time to try an alternative and the one on the table is perfect.

I like your pledge and i am picking it from today.

A likely impossibility is always preferable to an unconvincing posibility.

Despite this being an indictment on our local institutions,it is still the best thing to have happened to Kenya this year. The politicians seemed intent on buying time to get this deadline into a period where the constitutional review and succession politics where at fever pitch in 2010-2011 then claim lack of a condusive environment for the perpetrators hence let us 'forgive each other'. Gladly now, they'll be forced whether they like it or not to do some internationally acceptable job & hope the ICC will let them off the hook. We can all agree Kenya will be better one way or another once this process is over.
