I have come to conclude that the much touted 3G network speeds have come to a halt. Since the beginning of this month,its hardly possible to realize full HSCPDA speeds between 9am and 4pm. These guys got so busy selling these modems without upgrading the system to match the growing usage. Any similar experiences or its just me? I'm a user from the heart of CBD where it should be 3.99999999999G

Kanyimwa - this is something I predicted - search for a post sthg like Safarciom 3g modems - where someone was hawkign modems are wonderful prices - the modems in reality are worth as much as a 512mb flashdisk - so now everyone has one at ten times its real value - but no service....now,if you will permit me to laugh....HA HA HA HA HA.

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

The congestion on the 3G now has peak and off-peak hours. Peak hours,7 am to 7pm on weekdays. The net is not reliable at these hours,on & off. MJ needs to tune it up before we vuka

If your speeds are too slow,try to lock the modem onto 3G/ WCDMA only if you're in a 3G area or GPRS/ GSM only if outside 3G coverage

@gathinga,

if its the older version (oval in shape): from the Safaricom Mobile office window,settings>>choose network connection type>>3G only

if its the newer version (flash disk kind): from the Safaricom Broadband window,tools>> options>>network>>network type>>WCDMA only

The two mains concepts behind 3G is shared resource and dynamic coverage....the mentioned times are busy hours ....so you must be experiencing either of two scenerios with users are many hence low data throughputs or you at at edge of 3G coverage so you are thrown to edge...

make a formal complaint...to them
