Only in Kenya. Links from Nation and Standard are have no complaints, but when a fresh, new and relevant media house comes along it is spam? No wonder innovation is low in our country.
I'll have you know that ghafla.co.ke is maturing to the point where people are casually referencing it. Just go to Maina Kageni's Facebook ujionee. Or listen to 1FM or Radio Citizen tomorrow uskie.
PS: I have no idea who olivertwist is.

PS: I have no idea who olivertwist is. Laughable! You mean ghafla is a media house in the ranks of nation? I have never read any meaningful information there. Ghafla was kenyanlyrics before so i get why youre trying to defend the site. The day you came here with a thread titled "Kikuyu accused of hate speech" I lost all the little respect I had for your "media house" PS: I see no difference between ghafla and kenyanpost, they're both blogs with fiction writers masquerading as journalists. “People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one, and if you repeat it frequently enough, people will sooner or later believe it.” ― Walter C. @Kratos I am deeply offended by your comparison of Ghafla! and Kenyan Post. Ghafla! admittedly is sensational, because there is no room for candid reporting in entertainment news. However we are completely factual with the things that we write. That is why established media houses are not afraid to use us as a source. Just recently Citizen TV quoted us when reporting the Conje story.

Good effort @KenyanLyrics with Ghafla, BUT... KenyanLyrics wrote:PS: I have no idea who olivertwist is. Surely why would a new @OliverTwist open an account with the sole mandate to patronize your site? And for you sir, do all your threads/posts have to contain links to your site? I then understand @Kratos sentiment because that kind of behaviour is gutterlike

I then understand @Kratos sentiment because that kind of behaviour is gutterlike Muganda, if I remember well, when Kenyalyrics first came to Wazua (was it SK then?) he used to be a real spammer so to say. I remember he was called out on it and he thereafter toned it down. With time he was even contributing without links. The original site seemed to have been popular but was dreadfully designed and one toned. Since then they won some award, rebranded to Ghafla and actually have a well designed and user friendly site. It is indeed a media company and if they work hard and smart on it can become successful and influential in their niche. I think they are trying to be a TMZ kind of site so they tend to be a bit over the top at times. Still I would not compare it with Kenyan post which is as gutter as gutter can be. In Wazua it seems that Ghafla's owners/writers in an attempt to promote their website are creating handles with the sole purpose of promoting their site. In others fora that might be a good idea but in Wazua people are a bit discerning and they will get nowhere pretty fast. So Kenyanlyrics my unsolicited advice to you is 'you would gain respect and users from Wazua when you are open and gain neither when you try to be too clever by half.' And while at it you need to apologise for that 'Kikuyu' thread Kratos has posted about above. He who can express in words the ardour of his love, has but little love to express. - Petrach, Son. Kratos statement reminds me of those famous lines that came back to haunt... I do visit Ghafla once in a while for the stories.. and quite often i end up clicking on several other links.. incase you are still tied to your analogue paper, pole.. the likes of ghafla are the future. the serious & focused media houses are gearing online.. Nation has learnt it, SG revamped in a hurry (for the worse) I'd also like to commend them for positioning themselves much earlier and curving a niche. When the advertisements start flowing.. we may need somebody to introduce us to Kenyan lyrics.. unless some Wazuans are the ' Kiboros' and ' Melly-they kicked me out' Kenyalyrics keep up.. and if you have a link.. dont shy to include it when posting.. all are rights..i sometimes avoid, sometimes i click, its marketing..

You will note that I have in no way asserted that online journalism is not the future, this is a fact that anyone would know. My issue with ghafla is the connection with kenyanlyrics here for reasons mentioned on my post. While online journalism is encouraged, entities such as kenyanlyrics should know that there are ethics that should be adhered to for a successful venture. Image is everything in sales, a company that carries itself with decorum will most likely be more successful than otherwise. For the sake of harmony i withdraw my earlier comparison of ghafla with kenyanpost. This however does not mean that i will be visiting that site soon. Am also sure somewhere in the terms and conditions of usage of wazua, marketing own websites in the manner that kenyanlyrics has done is frowned upon. C&P Quote:Some negative effects: • Rise in “journalism of assertion”: unsubstantiated opinion and rumor which harms journalistic credibility; lack of restraint among online writers • Pressure to lower ethical standards and sensationalize stories • Public complaints about how a “ubiquitous” media violate personal privacy • Confusion about who is a journalist, when anyone can publish • Ethical “vertigo” regarding news values, newsworthiness, credibility. What standards are appropriate for this new “mixed media”?
