what happens to all those news sites that quote paragraphs from speeches - are they also punished ?

Yes they are. Someone is being punished. Its a question of the level of punishment and the authority of the website.

For example, if CNN copies a story from your site, they will get accredited simply because they are an authority site. Luckily for you they have the good manners to send a link to your site by accreditation so you don't suffer from them "stealing" your article but you actually benefit.

However, that story will appear in the searches as originally from them and not from you. If they don't leave a link to you, you are punished for copying content.

From the reactions you'd think she's been accused of first degree murder! It seems guys were waiting on the edge of their seats for her to slip up.Noone is perfect, she should just apologise and life goes on.

People are just happy to see the most proud and arrogant woman in Kenya in trouble. The feminist had the nerve to tell young women to avoid the kind of guys who take them out pale Njugunas.

Also on this annoying list are the Kenyan photo editors who have taken to using internet photos to accompany general life articles... and the photos come without captions to indicate their source. DOUBLE SHAME on them as well!

Nation website had a map showing the area where the gas discovery was made. Some lazy fellow copy pasted the map from some website calling our Malindi 'Melindi'. They at least corrected this in the print copy

I can only imagine what my lecturer would say if this happened to one of us in his class.

I think the biggest issues with many people in leadership positions is they over estimate their abilities and this is what Carol has caught herself on. I note recently she has been "visible" offering all sorts of "talks" and the pressure to remain relevant has pushed her to over the edge. I think she got ahead of herself and ratings and generally the success of Radio Africa may have deceived her and not forgetting she has no real skill/talent to write home about.

Maybe let it be a lesson to all and borrow a lesson from Marketingfocus on your clientele and not the products ( in this case the clientele is so much more informed - better watch your step)

Her reactions on twitter are full of vitriol. She's a public figure and its ruinning her image. Why cant she simply offer an apology?

aaaaish, haters are not paying her rent? she said that? Haters may not be paying her rent, but i bet in her opinion, the Star is.... but if the "haters" think they are buying some "copy and paste" paper and listening to "copy and paste" ideas on radio, they arent going to buy it or listen to her.... and then may be, she'll know haters eventually pay her rent.

Well, it could be her defense mechanism, but i do hope this experience helps her improve herself as a presenter, a public figure.

You'd be surprised how many so called journalists and writers do this. You'd be even more surprised by how many magazines actually condone this behavior - if any one has read a real estate maagazine associated with a real estate firm that used to hold big housing expos - I do not want to name them but...well....they would harvest - verbatim - from interior decor and housing sections of bbc.co.uk and other online magazines - they'd get mortage companies to advertise incl Baraclays, Stanchart, HFCK, etc....other realtors as well (Knight Frank, Hass Consult, etc).

Yeah - they made serious money doing that...

I also recall a lady freelancer who used to write ICT articles in one of the dailies - she'd left word for word from a South African website...I could not take that...I wrote to the editor...and the paper no longer carries her contributions....

It happens even outside media - consultants and researchers are also big culprits....

The star has decided to remove the article from their website.
Clearly Caroline Mutoko is a dumb shit. She spew vitriol on twitter insulting alai and team and then goes to her facebook to say ...... ooops that wasn't me!
Instead of apologizing and saying I am sorry I stole 300 words of a 600 word article she tries to deviate attention. To add insult to the injury she goes ahead to remove the article from the star website.
Well caroline and the Star google clearly doesn't like pliagiarist idiots the article is available on google cached copies

http://webcache.googleus...nk&client=firefox-a

Please stop being so stupid and apologize to the author!
