Dear SKerians

I am looking for Contacts for various Community projects scattered throught our country. I would truly appreciate if you gave me contacts of projects you know of in the slums and rural areas that might fall in either of the below categories.

- Orphaned / Rehabilitated Children projects

- Women empowerment projects

- People with disabilities projects

- Youth projects(especially those seeking to empower disadvantaged youth)

- Micro finace projects in the rural areas or urban slums

- Any project seeking to change lives and eradicate poverty through empowerment of any sort

If you know of a project,but do not have their contacts,you can just give a description of where they are located and i will take it from there.

Many thanks in advance

Thanks,but if you've ever done some community work,you'll agree with me that the most deserving are never really in the lime light...thus my asking on SK. Am looking for projects that guys have visited or seen the benefits of,that might not have seen the light in the media/websites. Do you know of such?

I dont exactly know of an organisation that helps such kids and families,but i believe its only a matter of finding out. However,maybe you could share right here(you never know who's watching)..where are they based? do the parents have a farm/are they some place where they can start a ka-small business to sustain themselves if they were to be financed?

I'l drop you an email though coz such stories are what am looking for....people whose stories/situations might never make it in the media,but they need help

They actually border Malili ranch about 40 km from Machakos turnoff on mombasa highway ...their grandparents have a piece of land...but the place does not receive adquate rainfall which they rely on...They plant maize and beans but rain fails them in most seasons...As for a small business ..the guy is youthful and can manage it..I can vouch for it....

@leona

there is a guy who took up families of displaced children and has been supporting them since.... He has 6 families he is helping. paying the kids school fees,feeding them,paying their rent all by himself. since his job fluctuates with seasons,this term was so bad coz his business has really been hit.... May be you could assist him too. he is David. His number is 0737180444
