Most Kenyans, myself included, are not readers. It is not an issue of money. Even if this book was sold for 500, most would still not read it. I am in possession of the FORA-distributed free PDF copy and am yet to go past the preface. I know Githongos bk is available but I havent read it too. Apart from set books, the best sell could be Kiriamiti. My last local read was 3 days on the cross by Wahome Mutahi
Interesting..n the way kenyans esp on cv's say they enjoy reading, ama its sms and movie subtitles?!

Speak for yourselves.

Citizens of the Virtual Republic profess to be good readers.

I was shocked to see TV footage of the man with the “same name twice” – Miguna Miguna – in “full flight” from a bunch of thugs. In the indignity of the melee, Mr Miguna lost his trademark Muslim cap revealing a nearly bald pate. Also gone were his eyeglasses and a shoe.It was Mr Miguna like the public hasn’t seen him before. I thought I was watching a movie – only it was all too painfully real.

Yet a Kenyan “peeler of masks” never ceases to thump his chest about how many university degrees he has. He epitomises the fact that beneath the mask of extreme intellectual conceit usually lie deep layers of extreme ignorance.
