Most of the second hand cars in mombasa are not worth a nice investment because they look good from far but very far from good.Due to the salt water in mombasa , the car rots very fast.So buyers beware.

A car can be an asset if it brings in more revenue than its costs.

there is a possibility of selling it for more money than the amount you bought it at.

it can buy you time which may result in making some money.

If the car is meant for sale and you are sure you gonna make some money from it then go for it so long as the buyer won't come looking for you.But if the car is intended for personal use then i can't advice you to buy a second one from mombasa.Try in nairobi especially the ones owoned by asians.

@Sonko, and they therefore do not qualify to be called second hand as there is a third hand you correctly identify as salt. salt hand?

I think it is a case by case issue though I agree with you salt causes rust. Same reason then you should not buy cars from UK because of the salt used to melt snow during winter. anyways, I once owned a Nissan B14 bought from Mombasa and it was sparkling and had no rust issues whatsoever. The previous owner had maintained the paintwork and I guess that's what guys in Mombasa need to do; never allow the paint to chip without respraying immediately and occasional refresh the paintwork. That means as you correctly state in the title of the thread BEWARE

Most cars are imported from Japan and all pass through MSA.
