@Halfempty
Check out Adepts list,its got SA,it also has UK,Russia,UAE (prob for resale),NZ,Singapore,Malaysia etc. So you haven't rained on my parade,the flag's still flying. Besides SA buying or not buying used cars has nothing to do with Kenya,in any case,the country is falling apart with strike after strike for whichever reason.
@Wote
All this countries above are on the list of countries importing 000's of used cars from Japan,so its not like we are commiting some criminal act. Why don't you look at the financing model for cars in EU and US so you can understand why purchasing even the used cars for Kenya is such a big deal.
If the environment was the only issue here then can assure you that its much more environmentally friendly to keep a 7 year old car than to buy a new one which uses up large quantities of raw materials that put pressure on the world resources. The reason this vehicles are sold is because they are serviceable and the reason Japan puts all those environmental regulations is to keep their car plants churning new cars. If Japan cared so much about the environment,they would have stopped whaling etc.
I also have issues with Kenya,but I apply them selectively. Not everything about Kenya is bad.
I've noticed the youth in particular coming in to a workplace with a completely outsized notion of their own value and importance... just a thinly-veiled arrogance. May be the credit crunch induced recession is whats needed to remind us all about the value of hard work.... By Anonymous
