This has to be the best news this year so far online merchants.

Many have been waiting for a formal solution to paypal's withdraw hurdle.

sorry D32 i didn't mean to use such language.

However, I would like to warn guys against marketers gimmicks. Unless Paypal tells you you can withdraw money using that card, then don't believe them.

There is only one way to withdraw funds from Paypal if you are from Kenya, through a USA bank Account......

That is from Paypal itself.

The media company and DTB launched a Visa pre-paid card known as NationHela which targets mainly Kenyans sending money home.

“Users can send money online, directly from a Paypal account, debit or credit card into the NationHela account. Diamond Trust Bank will handle the back office side of the business,” NMG chief executive Linus Gitahi said on Wednesday at the official launch.

I think the answer lies there.

Before we get all mad at me for saying somethings, do yourselves a favour.

Go get a paypal account.

Next

Go withdraw funds from Paypal.

If you see the option that says, Nation Hela, come and post here.

I have a pp which I like ignoring.
I came across this.
Quote:
Think of it this way.
I’m a Kenyan and I want to withdraw through Paypal, so I take a trip
to London and open an account with XYZ bank in London, and have a visa
card attached to it. I then tell the bank that I will be using the
VISA card on international ATM’s POSs etc. I also open up (or update)
my Paypal account to confirm the bank for withdrawals and so on and so
on.
I then take the 8 hour flight back to Nairobi with visa card on hand.
From then whenever i want to withdraw i just “push” to my UK bank
account which i can withdraw from any visa ATM here in Kenya.
Now parter that bank with a bank here; so that it can issue visa cards
on behalf of the UK bank (long distance agency banking) (look closely
at the BIN of the card), DTB is here to make the CBKs here happy, and
as they always say, talk to a bank, if they are happy we are happy
since we regulate them.
and there you have it

Quote:
Sending money via the card on the online portal doesnt require you to have a NationHela card, just as long as the recipient has one, they can receive money, but the sender will have to register and specify how they want the money transferred, either Debit Card, Credit Card or PayPal, and this transaction will take place within minutes. Users can then either make payments the via VISA card or withdraw money the way of ATM on any VISA branded ATM.

Honestly I do not understand how this works now.

I wonder how many kenyans have been to the airport leave alone London.

I will make this clear enough for everyone out there who is believing this nonsense from Nation.

When you open a paypal account in Kenya, you are registered as a Kenyan in their system. You will never be able to change that for the rest of your life.

In Kenya you only have one option, withdraw funds from a US bank. NO OTHER WAY!

https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

Please read that instead of reading press releases created by people who don't know what they are saying.

So if you are from Kenya and your account says Kenyan, you have no way to withdraw your funds but through a US bank. Good luck getting that.

Second Hand Method of Withdrawing

There are third party merchants who can offer you a US bank account. One of them is payoneer. So you withdraw your funds from Paypal to a Payoneer US bank account which then transfers your funds to your debit card.

If this is what Nation is offering, waseme hivyo.

Saying anything else is lying. They can sue me if they wish.

Debit Card Withdrawal

When debit card withdrawal comes to PayPal, this will not help the hela either. Paypal has their own cheaper and better option. Why would anyone get the nation one and leave the one from Paypal?

It currently costs me less than 80cts usd to transfer money from my paypal account to a debit card and its rates are international rates, why would I leave my card to go get fleeced by another Kenyan bank and corporate. The card doesn't charge me for withdrawal. Infact I get a rebate when I use it.

Like I said, they will be decimated.

Even if you do research for 6 months, it is important to note who did the research. Was it synovate or the other ones? The time research is done is not directly proportional to the quality of research.

If they had bothered to get an paypal account, they would not have had their CEO give such a loaded statement.

To withdraw money from paypal you have to have an account. Now...from what i gather from this Nation hela is that its a visa card with DTB so all u need to input the visa card number

thought this was major NMG undertaking. @Alma, I like the way you put it like no effort made to get some basics which even mr.google can throw you at the cost of 1MB.

EXACTLY what I had in mind.
I have always had a pp account, hence my interest in this hell of a thing.

This is what we are all familiar with.Easy and cheap.
I deleted a post where I was asking 'Why is Nation misleading the public? Can they be sued?
I am trying to figure out how a whole company like Nation can come up with such without proper verification.

To me this is probably one of the worst products in the market simply because they seem to have misled with their advertising that one can withdraw directly from paypal using their card.

But heck I make mistakes too and admit to not having a hela card so can't verify it. But I think Nation is a big company, they can do a demo of their hela account withdrawing from Paypal. I offer $20 in my account which I shall send to the hela people to do the demo.

If it works, I promise to eat humble pie and profusely apologise to all and sundry.

As for paying 500 bob for a debit card. Please, these things are free when you open a bank account.

As for buying products using Mpesa, please go to kopokopo, you can now buy products using mpesa without another third party getting a commission off you.

As for Kenyans in the diaspora using their card, you have got to be kidding me!

Disporans can transfer funds from the bank account straight to western union and straight to a western union debit card which your family controls. Heck they can send you their paypal debit card which you can withdraw at better rates than any bank can ever imagine offering. It takes 10 minutes to do this.

So exactly what type of research went into this thing? What is revolutionary about it?

Now...Nation Hela's target customer is not the Kenyan in Kenya but the Kenyan abroad who from the comfort of his desk can send money to relatives and friends without having to go to a moneygram or western union office or shop. Nation newspapers has the largest number of readers online abroad so DTB is targeting this..

@Alma....as long as you have a visa card you can withdraw money from paypal. It will succeed if its cheaper than western union and moneygram
