It is not possible to tell how many litres are left in the tank by looking at the gauge...at least not with any measure certainty.

If you want to know how much fuel you have consumed on a journey, you should fill the tank at the beginning and then at the end. The litres consumed at the end are the ones used during the journey....

I thought every motorist knew this


It is possible. If your car came with a manual!!! you are told that when the 'red flag' comes on, there is 7.5 0r whatever liters of fuel left in your tank! Now you know!

This may be the case if your car is on a perfectly horizontal surface.....

That assumes that you will see it coming on the very first time.

Usually, it comes one for a few seconds; then goes off; then comes on again; then off.... eventually it comes on and remains on.

You like arguing a lot. You are out to experiment something. So you drive your car with one eye on the dashboard and when you see the red you dash to the nearest petrol station. There is always a margin of error. In most cases women don't know the exact date when they conceived!

Daihatsu mira-Nakuru to Nairobi and back. Distance~ 360 km, speed ~80 km/h, fuel used 16.5 litres. Efficiency ~ 21.8 km/l

Hey people!
I have a friend who claims his Toyota RunX achieves 14Km/Ltr (Nairobi) & 20Km/Ltr (highway).Can someone verify this?

Also whats your experience on consumption of the 1500cc GG2 Subaru Impreza?

The distance from Nairobi to Nakuru and back is 320km so km per litre should be 19.39.

Even with the fuel gauge on E, you should still make 43 km on the 2002 Nissan B15.

My guess then is that your car has a reserve of at least 20 litres in addition to the 10 litres you estimate to be left in your tank.

From my experience, having owned and driven both models, the GG2 is slightly better at 10km/L town driving and 12 Km/l on the highway.

GG3 - 9Km/L Town, 11 Km/L Highway. This is slightly higher because of the full time AWD on this model.
