Ati 64b?? Same old media crap. A brand new mi helicopter is not worth more than 1.5b. The 64b was used to purchase the su30 which are FIGHTER JETS, not ATTACK HELICOPTERS. Is it so hard to tell the difference?? Nktusingizi ya media.

This story is turning out sad than I expected. I never imagined the planes would have crashed. All the three of them!

This is a big loss to Uganda!

@Simonkabz, is it true no Ugandan can fly the SUs?

There is more to this story than meets the eye.
Right now they are causing people to speculate and suspect many things.

Tutajua ukweli much later.

There is nothing much. My take...human error. If the Mi 21 have a service ceiling of less that 5K meters they were bound to be brought down by the weather esp winds at Mt.Ke and again, its not advisable to fly near such a rocky mountain because of the magnetic forces. IMHO, I think the pilots who survived are quite good because if they had crashed they would have exploded.

The question we should be asking is who gave them that flight path? Just hoping its not our guys.

The pilots displayed a serious error in judgement. 1. How anybody would choose to penetrate weather while flying next to a huge mountain is beyond my comprehension. 2. Why did they choose to go by the southern rather than the northern side of the killer mt? The southern side is almost always foggy, rainy, has crazy winds n a very dense forest. 3. What was the hurry for? They took off past 4pm. 4. The SERVICE CEILING of the mi is around 12000ft. The thing cant n will not sustain reasonable lift beyond that. The choppers crashed at 12700ft. Consequently, they must have lost power at those levels of thin air n came down. Call it fate, call it pilot error, it is a huge loss to the people of uganda. My condolences.

Pilot error, Pilot error , Pilot error !!

These pilots have never encountered a rough terrain before and as such could not maneuver the foggy weather with their old Russian made copters.
But again, who gave them the coordinates for the flight path.

Reminds me of days when Uncle Sam was friends with Iraq. They supplied them with war planes. One trainee pilot went to check if the craft had enough fuel with a matchbox. The rest is ash.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
