heard a story where a guy decided to help out an accident victim taking him to hospital whereupon he later died.

police held him plus his car, he had to fork out 4k to release his car.

the message from police is clear! NEVER ASSIST ANYONE ON THE ROAD IN CASE OF ACCIDENT!

sounds crooked,

here are some basics.
call for medical assistance/ ambulances immediately.

one rule when assisting accident victims is that your safety is most important. Don't go touching blood <if any> without gloves....also ensure you are safe from other road users, don't just go to the middle of the road to rescue, there are mad drivers.

second, lay the victims on a flat ground, make sure their air passage is clear,

if possible, they should lie on their side, with the head slightly tilted backwards...

if there are silent victims, start with them. .. at least those screaming are conscious.

Ill add later

@kenmac thank you for information.
Yesterday, there was a nasty accident at T-mall round-about at midday.
Where was the space to speed with that traffic! The car uprooted a tree and knocked down a city-kanjo-block weighing about 100kg, and still some momentum to land 6m away on the side of rounda!
Both occupants were saved by airbags! Though driver was injured because he didn't wear seat-belt.

Lesson:
- don't drive while drunk (i think they were tipsy)
- airbag safes lives
- seat belt safes lives
- why speed while approaching round-about?

True that!

@Livie, imagine you are in an accident and someone doesn't help you because they are afraid of losing 4k getting their car from the police or whatever the case?

the law is not that straight forward - if someone dies in your car it gets very complicated - one being where you take the body, hosi will reject it and you can't peleka morgue straight.

always make sure you get two or more people in the car with you when you commit to transfer a seriously injured person.
