Manchester United is considering a US$1bn IPO in Singapore and that the deal could be launched by end of this year provided market conditions remained conducive at the time of issuance, IFR reported on Tuesday, citing a source with direct knowledge of the plans.

Would rather invest in Sofapaka - why don't they sell some ownership anyway?

The IPO details - http://sec.gov/Archives/...07537/a2210287zf-1a.htm

Then a shirt sponsor deal worth GBP 210 million - www.thesun.co.uk/sol/hom...with-General-Motors.html

IPO float date is August 9th.

My take is this will behave the same way as facebook. I can see Jefferies, JP Morgue & Credit Suisse are the lead brokers.

CNBC had a good article about it which is quite shocking for its not hyping the IPO...

www.cnbc.com/id/48302784...Buy_for_Retail_Investors

This will mostly attract retail than institutional mboys just like FB.

www.telegraph.co.uk/fina...chester-Uniteds-IPO.html

My rate is a sell just like FB...

Btw is UAE money finally buying success in EPL like R. Madrid during Zidane's time. If so can Glazer go head to head with UAE money at Mancity?

Man City won the title last season. They beat an often injury affected Man United team. I am not bashing them but if with all their money they won the title on goal difference with only a 1-2week injury to one of their dependable players then I would like to dream big about Man United winning the lot with a fully fit team.

keved. I think in football. Wining trophies does not necessarily equal profits. (read chelski). I am a united fan too but as an investment, raw deal.

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.

I was commenting on the field side of things. About the IPO, it doesnt look so good because of the absence of powers for those who purchase the shares. United owners got a boost by getting the mega deal with Chev which can be translated to the company being viewed as valuable but now the Glazers have changed to say they will only use half of the proceeds to pay the debt.
Let us see whether they will go ahead with this new plan or there will be another twist.

Share price slashed before listing; no reason given... Goodluck to the buyers as they're taken to the cleaners.
