MPs yesterday threatened to censure Githae over what they said was a ‘punitive’ Bill.

Prices of maize flour, bread, wheat flour, milk and other basic commodities will shoot up by 16 per cent, if MPs approve plans to impose a tax on them.

Another example of MPs not understanding how VAT [or any taxation for that matter] works....

Chances are that there will be no price change at all.

Reason being that the market price of a product has VERY little relationship to the input costs!

Ask yourself this: was the drop in the cost of phone calls caused by a reduction in the prices of inputs?
