Human Resources sulks and stinks like hell! I do not like how HR people behave! Can you imagine the way you walk or if you appear in an interview room without a tie may cost you a job.

Your CV and your interview skills especially for young people should not be used to their disadvantage.

A few persons whom HR could have dismissed as jokers but they changed lives.

Steve Jobs was fired from Apple – a company he founded.
Michael Jordan as a high school sophomore didn’t make his varsity basketball team — another sophomore beat him out.
J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series (400 million copies sold) was rejected by 12 publishers.
Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper because “he lacked imagination and had no new ideas.”
Winston Churchill failed 6th grade and lost every election for public office, until he won and became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the Second World War.

See ,this is kenya. Many graduates do not think outside the box and even if they do, they complain of lack of start up capital.
But you will hardly miss them at all entertainment zones 24/7.

You know why the tie will cost one a job? It's cz somebody else has been earmarked for the position. It's just looking 4 a single excuse to disqualify you cz u already came.
When people go for interviews, they fail to realise that the job is already taken up by somebody close to the powers that be.
Sad but the interview is just a formality.

Don't know why people indicate their primary and highschools cz to me it doesn't make sense to include your high school if you have a college/uni degree or higher.

Ummm..what to say. I think we have a problem on both ends. Some HRs are way outdated, its outrageous. They think an interview is an intimidation party, its their time to shine. You should see them all in suits, glasses lowered, all looking like the world is just about to crash and burn. I mean...who cares!!! What you are looking for is a person to work with you, not a slave.Someone to be a member of your team, not a hitman. On the other hand, applicants. SMH, out of all the CVs received, I can only open 50% of them. Reason, all of the things that have been mentioned.Solution: Hrs, this is 2012, the interview process has changed over the years...its your job to find out what has changed. Remember, the interviewees are your customers, or may be future customers. Would they be excited to buy your brand after the interview? Job seekers. Look at your CV and application letter. Does it tell you anything positive about the writer? Would you hire that guy if you were the employer? ..my 5 cents.

Proper email needs a defination. I can't employ someone with email such prettyliciousdiva@yahoo.com how about; ladyjen@yahoo.com,
themastermind@yahoo.com. Maybe they should use the emails to determine ones creativity.
If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.

It all boils down to the type of education we get this days all cramming and theoretical...nikupita tu exams apart from that nothing else, you arent taught how to solve real life problems

To be honest the level of cheating is very high. I have seen guys use two smart phones to google during exams (while one is searching the other is in the pocket being converted to an answer) and a lady who was pretending to change pens in her pouch while the smart phone is on the net.

How do you expect such a "graduate" to solve problems?

Haha.

Not everybody who walks in with that master is learned.
No wonder people find it difficult to manage their lives cz skills lack.

If I owned a company I wouldn't care much about papers.
Practical test will do.

For each of the people you have listed, there are at least 1,000 others who were similarly rejected and came to nothing!

Bottom line is this: if you want a job, then you must be prepared to conform to what employers expect of a good employee.

If you don't want to conform, then don't look for a job; become self-employed...and eventually an employer.

At one time I was attending a conference where Jonathan Ciano was the guest speaker and he was saying that sometimes they do not pick an employee for the papers they possess but for the passion and enthusiasm that they display at the interview.

His misgivings were that they sometimes fail to get the right candidates at the shortlisting stage. He has sometimes taken CPA graduates at the expense of masters and degree holders for failure to show any ummph in as much as the holder is required to possess such papers..... these are the guys I think @essyk is alluding to.
