I also been wondering... what would motivate a pharmacist and other learned contributors to go to great lengths, carry out indepth research, prepare a paper and simply post it here for free???

sometimes you reply to help people

reply just like you would have replied to an office mate who asked a question whether silly or not

some people post topics to study things about other people

some just for fun

others like MAREXX AND MLEFU...to create controversy

and others like the starter of this thread....TO SATIFY KIDDISH EGOS

Embers,

You are an idiot. Tell us now how you have benefited by posting this nonsense.

@Kumbafu. @Embers has a case in point and has asked a very appropriate question. Of course conventional wisdom allows ALL of us be able to pinpoint the OBVIOUS BENEFITS. But dont you @kumbafu think there is more than meets the eye? You should be able to develop skills of observation and read between the lines.

@Embers- even Red X help is never for nothing, it's their 'business' to 'relieve' suffering. Think of SK as Dyer & Blair offering their IPO advisory service for 50 cents. Or,even better, that pyramid scheme 'investor' who came to you offering 'great' free investment advice and got you to buy in; you know how that works. There are diverse types in SK too.

Embers have fowarded something which looks easy to answer at first sight. This is contrary to the truth. I wish Embers had included the benefits of READING. It would have been straight foward- information. Again, does this post refer to benefits accrueing to sk or to those posting/replying. We may have to answer this post going by the very first impression we get about the querry and hope that Embers will in that course be answered.

simple principle,to receive you need to give..,and if you believe in the grey matter btn your ears you should not be afraid to discuss your ideas

My question to you would be,are you scared if you help, people will get richer than you?

Are you too selfish to share what knowledge you have?

Do you have any self confidence?

I believe no one can stop me from getting mine, and if i can help a few more people be better off,i'd do it.

i'd recommend you travel a lot, read a lot, hopefully that can broaden your myopic mind.

To me,sharing my knowledge is a way of achieving immortality and knowledge is of no value unless i put it into use. Some folks are wise others are otherwise.

Lets take this site to the next level… a common cliché… but we could actually take steps towards improving the content of the site by... paying!!!

Not to belittle eskay for its ability to satisfy readers of myriad tastes… but to my mind we could actually tap into a constant stream of top notch material if writers were adequately compensated for their efforts… in other words pay me and I will bend my back to write something useful… otherwise I will stick to my day job and keep visiting eskay with the hope that some other dude(tte) has the patience to post something worthwhile… and where will eskay get the funds… same as any other site… from advertisements… higher quality… more hits… more advertising revenue…naturally 'other discussion' tab should continue unabated...

In simpler terms,I believe @Embers is asking: Are some members being paid for posting. @half-empty on the other hand is saying: Posts should be paid for to improve quality. So,fellow members, dont crucify them. They have a point for you to ponder.

@Willy,

I would suggest Embers and the likes start a thread and give SK an analysis of two, three stocks. I mean thorough write-ups. This might show the SK fraternity what they will be missing if they dont pay for the info. I mean,do proper research and show SK members what they will be paying for. You cant sell a bull when its still in the shed. bring it out and let the people know what they will be expecting to pay for. if its worthy stuff and people are willing to put a premium on it,fine. my thots.....
