PKoli wrote:Where did the figure of 25 billion being reported by newspapers as the buyout for KK come from? I think they are getting the 25 Billion valuation from Kestrel's >300 million dollar valuation. earthvoice wrote:Abstracted from the KenolKobil Update - Cautionary Statement on Potential Take-over (issued by Kestrel Capital)
Potential deal size and expected take-over premium Assuming Puma Energy will launch a Take-over bid for the entire shareholding of the company, the deal size could be more than USD 300m in absolute terms versus KenolKobil’s current market value of approximately USD 220m. Our expectation is that all shareholders of the company would be offered the same Take-over price on substantially the same terms. Our most recent fair value estimate on KenolKobil was KES 17.50 and consensus estimates are also around this level GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE

One of them said they stocked up before the price announcement. If the Independents want to speculate, then they should pay the price. Unfortunately, the Brent Oil prices are increasing ($108 from $92) so the aggressive reduction by ERC will be substantially reversed in August. Greedy when others are fearful. Wasn't the due diligence ending today or 2moro? "Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning."

Kestrel is Biwott and Kenol Kobil is also the same owner selling the company. Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

I'm concerned at how strongly the oil prices have rebounded. Not a good sign for any market & econ when oil prices get volatile... $15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

mwekezaji, we are not yet out of the woods. "It has also emerged that Puma Energy is yet to make its application to the capital markets regulator, which refused to comment on the deal on grounds that it is yet to receive the takeover application.'' http://www.nation.co.ke/.../-/4769ubz/-/index.html

The rise in oil prices has been sudden and 20+% ($89 in June to $109 in July) Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

Holding this counter in this period comes with a high beta/risk. The risk return principle will hold true. Good return will come or otherwise. Closely watching the volumes which would mostly reveal the news that have not leaked to the public

At what point should the regulator be informed during the process. Some one who understands the entire process up to full acquisition, kindly post the process.
