I have lived/gone to school in the states close 15 years i have never had to bribe any one for anything. I do not think that would happen in Kenya unless i was locked up in a Cave,because even guys in prison pay bribes to enjoy certain liberties like receive a visit. wote

@ wote: you may have missed the furore about exec compensation in the US. company execs that made billions losses still pay themselves millions of dollars in 'bonuses' . guys are fed up. the latest,AIG,which made 60.9 BILLION in losses and is to recieve 85 billion dollars plus in tax payer money (that could probably run africa for 5 yrs) paid 168 million in bonuses to the devision responsible for the morgage crisis. maybe its not called corruption but .... the big diff btween africa and the US is guys ain't taking this sh**. AIG have hired security,their employees are afraid to go to work,one senetor asked for them to commit suicide,the CEO has been called to the senate .... i do not agree with the topic headline

... but in the mighty U.S. of A. not a single government official has faced disciplinary action so far ... or worse still any form of blame from the mainstream media. .... let's not forget they have the most expensive and high tech law enforcement and government bureaucracy in the world ... yet they cannot detect a simple publicly operated Ponzi scheme. .... for those nay sayers who say it's got nothing to do with Kenya. Your PM gives regular updates and briefs to the US ambassador. Moreso the US embassy finances the activities of his office. All this is public knowledge as it is there for all to see in the newspapers. Who,therefore does he report to? ... who is his effective boss? ... Who therefore runs things .... (is in charge) in your country Kenya? The man he thinks he can,and the one who thinks he can't are both right. Which one are you?

Now now Finje. I don't want to hurt your feelings but thieves and conmen are not only made in Kenya. They are all over the world. You will not live anywhere without a thief,a con,a murderer and any other thing you hate. The question is what does the society do about it when such a person is found. In Kenya,you become an MP and are promoted at work. I don't want to burst your bubble but the country you pretend to hate so much does not have such upus. The madoff guy you are touting so much is going to jail less than 6 months after he was found out. What about any such person in Kenya? If you think for even one minute that you can survive in the USA with an attitude of paying off people just because you saw it in a movie,I would greatly advice you to go and have your visa denied like the politicians. You will not last a day. Instead of trying to say that 'even that guy has a bad haircut,I should be fine',I would suggest you come up with ways to stop these gov't workers from asking for a bribe from every person who enters their office. As for Raila and the USA,if you have evidence that such behaviour is what caused my bus fare to be hiked from 30 bob to 80 bob today,I will be very interested. There are more pressing issues than who is sleeping with who in Kenya.

Methinks it has nothing to do with the proportions but the principle behind it.You can condemn these officials and leaders all you want but all corruption has its roots in a society. Last GE 70% of MPs were sent home,their replacements are now asking for more perks,never mind the small matter of starvation threatening a third of their countrymen. If all those MPs were to be replaced today,I can bet all my earthly possessions the picture would remain the same if not worse.
