If what we do in response is to demonize family planning, then we are doomed.
We can't just have a large population for the heck of it.
If one can raise 5kids,then be it. The target audience for the advise is the kind of people who can't even feed themselves, then go ahead and bring forth 5 or more kids. This puts strain to the gov't/society with a population crying for 'tunaomba serikali" and if the gov't doesn't respond, which mostly it won't, the very unproductive population becomes crooks. The gov't is then forced to beef security, spending the little that was there.

Taking Japan/the west as examples is plain simplistic in poking holes in the noble idea.
People got to plan their families.

After all, failing to plan is a brilliant plan to fail.

Agreed. Large families are very often the poor who cannot afford them. The middle n upper class have it together.

These guys want us to believe this, 'yaani' seriously!!!

There's poor distribution of wealth among the population as a result of Capitalism where less than 10% of us own more than 90% of wealth!!

What are we, copy-cats? Are we now aping this fading family tabias of the West? Wazuans, did you know that only 1 in every 9 families in Western civilization eat breakfast or dinner together?

Because breakfast and dinner is place where family mother and father usually impart their values, where they are able to analyze, evaluate and interact with their children with some quality time.

So if they are not able to eat breakfast together, and they don't eat dinner together, this means that breakfast and dinner table have been replaced by McDonalds, BugerKings and PizzaGardens.

That's progress for them? Let them have it their own way. They are too busy chasing the world and cannot 'afford' (read 'time') more than one mongrel! Shame on you

Poor distribution of wealth? I'd imagine if you found yourself on the poverty side you would want to keep to a min the no of mouths to feed. Its about improving the quality of life for your children. This is a personal choice but as usual, Kenya is not short of disfunctions to place blame on. Kenyans need to take responsibility for the choices they make. You cannot fill your shack to the brim then say you cannot afford basic necessities because wealth was not distributed your way. Resources anywhere are limited. So you must limit their usage.

Well me thinks that all these thing are intertwined.

-What makes one a poor couple?
-What are the effects of poverty in a family?
Several but one I will mention is lack of exposure/global mentality due to lack of finance, facilities etc meaning that one is trapped in their circle of cultural beliefs.
They say if u dn't taste other people's food you would think ur mum is the best cook.
Sorry to bust the bubble she is not.
Why we say it's the best is cz the food is mixed with the best ingredient called love so even it it's boiled njahi with no salt, it tastes better than what Chef Ramsey cooks.

That aside,Some cultures we cling on to hinder progress by encouraging women to breed like rats.
Long ago it was okay because we didnt have the rural urban migration we have now.Basic economic activities revolved around the home and so every child was kept busy being productive even from an early age. Compare that to now.

Other cultures insist that a woman must give birth to all male and female relatives on both side of the divide for the purpose of naming and continuation of family line.

Some cultures value boys more than girls so a woman keeps getting impregnanted every year in search of a boy.The result? A football team with no referee or field.

Other cultures measure wealth in terms of family size. The more kids the richer even if they can barely afford a bed.

Some men do not believe in family planning at all.

See how these backward cutural believes hinder progress? They increase poverty by bringing neglected kids into the society who in turn become a burden to the tax payer cz of strained and stretched resources.

So instead of just 'advising'cz God know we are not a hearing nation but an action one.
People like practical things not theory.
They need to be shown practical ways of create wealth and they will be too busy to breed anyhow.

Then these people who like throwing ideas had better know in Africa they have an ogre called Culture to deal with first.

Breaking cultural beliefs and embracing new ones for the sake of development must be the biggest challenge of all times.
I don't know how they can convince some communities that many children is not wealth when these communities sire kids with the sole purpose of taking care of animal herds and 'protect the family'from enemies.
What other options are u giving them?

How do u convince people with the mentality of late Akuku Danger that having many kids in this day and era is not fashionable?

My question now.How comes the very rich and Famous have no more than of 2-3 kids?
