Whatever you do,report the matter to any police station near you. If anything happens to you,he will have to sweat his way out. They are not as powerful as we might think.

Yes i agree, report the matter to two police stations; Langata where you stay and the one next to your work place. Make sure you corroborate the issue in order not to have any flaws. We cant let impunity to continue like this. Tenancy agreements are contracts for which either party must honour their part of the bargain.

But you need to organise to Hama to be on the safe side. Sad

@sparkly.. siyo maneno ya kichwa ngumu..

I have hinted to him that I'm not paying rent for this month unless he restores water otherwise I move at the end of the month.... this is when the threats started coming.

He just wants his rent for this month but doesn't care if there is water in house or not.

Hi good people, I moved into a house sometime in Oct 2011 and have been paying rent on time.

I later discovered this house has a water dispute between the landlord and NWSC since 2005 way before I moved in and my verbal agreement with the landlord was that I pay monthly usage as he deals with the arrears.

Unfortunately he hasn't been paying the arrears and now NWSC disconnected water 2 months ago, I have been tapping water from my neighbor to fill my tanks twice weekly (at a fee).

This month I told the landlord that I will not pay rent until he sorts out the water issue but now he is threatening me that 'I will see who between the two of us is a MAN if I don't pay'.

Has anyone ever encountered such a scenario ?

How do I deal with this chap ?

Where can I seek redress ?

If it is in South B,Plainsview, I moved out then you moved into that house. If not, then there is a similar case in South B, Plainsview.

@kflarge...I'm organizing to move end this month... NB: the latest threat was this afternoon at mid day.

I think I need to get in touch 'for real contacts' since this is a direct threat to me and my family and anything can happen between now and the time I move out at the end of the month especially now that I have told him that I won't pay until water is restored.

Do you have the SMS's? Write to the Police Commissioner and copy to the CJ...The Media houses, the rent tribunal useless org and the loud mouth ITUMBI and for sure he will do nothing to you. Then move

Good on you for being adamant on your rights.

Sometimes Kenyans are too scared for their own good.

Go to a lawyer pay him 2k-5k. Any stupid lawyer will do. Walk with him to a police station, and complaints department Nairobi Area police and complaints department CID and state that you fear for your life.

Send a copy of your complaint to their headquaters, CID headquaters, and a few friends. Make sure you CC everyone to see its going everywhere.

Then move.

The fellow will be following you everywhere not to shoot you but to protect you incase anything happened to you. Trust me, this works.

Always send correspondense with these people by registered mail. They have to sign it and accept they got it.

But you must report, he'll come to your home issuing more threats. But you have made your stand.
And you must move, coz he's a silly landlord.

Jose: If I make it through this thug life, I'll see you one day. The Lord is the only way to stop the hurt.
