There is guy called Ken Wanjala who sells njugu in a small town called Chwele in Western Province. I think this guy is next big thing in comedy and am hoping someone here in Wazua knows Churchill or that Churchill himself is a wazuan and can give this guy a break.

Take a look:

Laughing out loudly
Me thinks he should just stay localised for a while.

Those tujokes belong to the local crowd in the village.

The sad thing is, people aren't paying to to watch him do it.
Can he try schools, social gatherings, public functions etc for a start instead of aiming high?

Nbo crowd ni ngumu sana to please.

I think the smile is environmentally friendly! Ama @stockskenya.

Now which Nairobian has shed his villagehood? When you buy a Chrysler or Jaguar or a Range Rover and live large, does that make you a I don’t know what? We have all left the village but the villagehood is still within us.

And again how is his comedy localized. For a guy who has not had formal education I rate him very highly. Who doesn’t know Pius Muiru, Who doesn’t know Jose Chameleon? What makes his jokes different from those of Eric Omondi? Tafadhali kwa roho safi…educate me!

@ Magigi, despite your sentiments this guy would be a hard sell to the Churchil target market; will need to be cleansed first. In all fairness his talent is very raw and immature. But then again you never know with exposure ...............

Having listened to the video I see a guy trying to find out what he can do for a living.
At one point he blames the pastor for not supporting his music career.
Now he's selling groundnuts and cracking jokes.
Not bad. I like that.
But if he is indeed singer why not sing with or without the pastor's support? Many started singing without support. They sang in children's homes for free just entertaining and public gatherings. That opened doors.

Now this is what I mean by local.
Have you listened to comedians who make jokes in their local language? eg the one githingia?
Now picture him trying to make jokes in swahili or english. It loses the 'taste'
He can cut out his own niche and target a specific market for a start esp seeing he is financially challenged.
He doesn't need to do it everybody's way or copy what the rest do. Creativity can take him far.
He can even combine songs and comedy together.
These pastor imitating jokes aren't very funny cz they are overdone. It's like boiling meat over and over again.

I heard churchill admit that pleasing a nairobi crowd is the most difficult thing to do.
He sweats doing it
Am also reminded of Eric who after exposure was left standing alone and his show somehow flopped till he rejoined churchill and his star shone again.

If I was wanjala? I would approach schools and request to do comedy on specific days.
I would target public gatherings and request to perform even for free.
I would knock on any door sorrounding me and do it.That should open the others.
But what I get here is one waiting for a major breakthrough when it's already in his hands though in a small way.
We need churchills in chwele and shamakhokho to encourage other local youths.
My message is,you don't have to be in churchill to make it.You don't need to come to Nbo to make it!
It's just a wrong mentality to think that you must be on a high platform to make it.

Encourage him to shine, perfect, upgrade and not give up and the doors to Africa will open let alone churchill.
