Kenya has agreed to import 4 million tonnes of Iranian crude oil per year, a senior
Kenyan energy official said on Monday.
Under President Mwai Kibaki, the east African nation has
increasingly turned to new economic partners, forging close ties with nations like China and Libya under Muammar Gaddafi's leadership.
The shift in foreign policy
stance has sometimes caused unease among its traditional western allies. Kenya is a key
strategic ally in the U.S. led fight against militant Islam.

Iran war my foot! 4 countries have given the Iranian oil ban the middle finger through direct swaps bypassing the SWIFT system.
I'm waiting to see how euroland will cope with their imposed Iran oil ban.

KE is walking a tight rope trading persian oil. Some pink faced money masters will be pissed. Watch KES for the attack will strike there...

Courting sanctions.

I think at the current stage, going by the pink masters is the better option. We are not China, nor Russia.

So on one hand we are importing Iranian oil, while on the other hand we are arresting 2 Iranian agents who have come to plant a not-so-whinny tiny 15kg of explosives under our backsides, thus we are irking and risking sanctions from US and the West, the same fellas who if God forbid the Iranian bombs were to have gone off, we would have ran to for rescue equipment/medical and investigative aid? d'oh!
What an effing convoluted thing geopolitics is.

Are people jumping the gun here.Kenya has signed an agreement to import oil from iran.it is a multi year contract and it doesnt say when the first shipment will be made.It might just be after the sanctions are lifted. The west cannot stay for long without this iranian oil.if anyone has seen the spike in crude price in the last 3 days they must be crazy not to try get iran to cooperate with the international community

Kenya cancels Iran oil deal after UN sanctions
"We have terminated the
MoU because the UN has
declared a total trade
embargo on Iran, and we are bound by the action," Patrick Nyoike, permanent secretary
in the Energy ministry has said.
