Truck for Carrying Oil

Hello All

I have been told about a business venture for carrying oil from the deport in pipeline to various petrol stations. This requires me to purchase a truck e.g. an Isuzu FRR, Mitsubishi Forward , Isuzu FVZ then put an oil container and I will be ready for business
My question is how easy is it to get a reseller who I can carry fuel for? Will my truck be idle? This is important as I will be purchasing a new truck from GM on loan.

congrats for the good idea.
its a profitable biz n the demand of transporters is big.
first make a survey of the market before making the tanker coz different pple prefer different chamber patterns but you can go for 3*3*2*2*
town deliveries are guaranteed daily in msa but the insurance for goods in transit is expensive hence many transporters opt for 3rd party policy and they take risk of the over 1m fuel in case of an accident and the goods havent reached the destination.

@HALKY, Good advice. Are you / have yu been in the business? What numbers are we talking? Downside?

for the numbers aint bad depending on your conections for the orders.
you have to build trust with the petrol station owners coz they depend on you for their supply..most transporters are overwhelmed with the orders and take three orders in a day hence the fail to load all the 3 and end up not delivering hence mistrust.
mombasa town deliveries are between 0.75 to 1 bob per litre and a distance of 100 to 150 km takes upto 2 bob per litre.
with the bureacracy at many depots its impossible to load 3 trips a day even for town service.

Halky. I know a few people who have contracts in the various depots i.e.the resellers (I am told getting a contract e.g. with kobil is not easy). I will therefore be giving the reseller my truck when his own trucks cannot meet the order level;. In my case, will I be the one taking out the insurance or is this the resellers responsibility? (I am not the one in contact with the depo or the petrol station owner)

always the insurance covers the registered owner of the vehicle.so long as the tanker remains users and if the reseller is not using your vehicle you wil have to find orders on your own for survival thus insurance is on you.

A friend of mine also wants to buy an Actros Prime mover not for Oil business but to be pulling containers. What is the viability of this business coz i understand a new one will cost like 7m in total. Apart from the truck, what else is required to run this bizna? Does he have to register a company and what are the implications
