Anyone ever heard of this company? Apparently, they are selling plots in Ruai - KBC area, an eigth for shs 40,000. They seem to be advertising alot and many Kenyans are going there to be fleeced. Their offices are at the junction of Thika rd and bypass to Ruai.

I went there and made some enquiries.

Here is the thing. The plots are being sold for 40k, you pay and get a certificate then wait to ballot for your plot at some unspecified time in the future. They have no office at the site of the proposed plots and no one to take you to the place. They are not availing the Mother title for inspection neither do they have the proposed subdivision plan. I took down details of the company and land and I have received threats on phone to leave them alone and not interfere with their business.

My worry is that innocent Kenyans are actually paying for this scam. Their office was packed with prospective buyers some of whom were signing some papers and giving passport photos.

What can one do to stop this and unearth the perpetrators.

Kenyans are very desperate for land!
In the whole of kangundo road, you cannot get land at such a ridiculous price.
These runyanjara fellows are out to make serious money, given the number of people that passes along thika/ruai/bypass!!

Buyer be ware! You did your part. Post in as many forums as possible. They'll probably get away with it.

Actually the name of the company says it all. It means a Dry, rocky, probably unproductive place.

The name itself looks ugly, never mind the real meaning in KIUK. If they game me a piece of land for free, I would hesitate to accept.

Guys, the reason I put this here is because I know many people with influence read this site. The guys being fleeced are from upcountry. One of the advertising methods of Runyanjara is to pay newspaper vendors out there to put a nice glossy ad between the pages of the newspaper when they sell it. I have been buying newspapers in Nairobi and have not come across these inserts.

The guys who are being targeted are not on twitter and may not be on facebook. We need someone with influence on this site to do the right thing, talk to an OCPD somewhere, maybe whisper to a reporter to investigate this issue. That is the only way 'Wanjiku' will be saved.

Exactly what do you want the gov't to do?

No one has complained. In fact, as the OP has stated, they are lining up to get mooooooore.

Surely, let them burn. These must be the same fools who invested in Deci. They are also the same fools who will never invest in their children's education or even start up.

Washa washomeke.

This greed in Kenya and shortcut taking can only be tamed when people are burned and conned absolutely and completely.

While I admit that GoK is failing its subjects, the citizens cannot be exonerated from blame in this kind of con games. If you left your car (or house) unlocked, you cannot blame GoK if valuable items therein are stolen. Each person has a duty to conduct some rudimentary due diligence before giving your heard earned cash in these difficult times.

However, lets name and shame any suspicious characters out there...

This Runyanjara Investment Company Ltd are thugs. Keep away from them. I had personally bought 5 plots and paid partly. But i did my investigations and found out that they are not even 2 months old and its directors are linked to a very powerful Member of Parliament in Central Province. Campaign dough I guess. Theas no land. U will pay 40,000 for a cup of tea they offer u at the office and a plate of food on their purported balloting day (28-7-12)- That's all you will get, Nothing more. Just keep away- You might be deleted. My cash is back.
