A guy I know has hired out his FAW to some contractor and at times goes for 3-4 months without being paid,(but is paid in arrears there after) which stresses him abit as he has to service a loan. He says he is supposed to get 300k a month, assuming that you earn the same and buy your tippers for about 5m in 18 months you will just have recovered your costs (after factoring in abit of maintenance costs/ insurance etc) you will thus need a tipper that is durable enough to last beyond 18 months and make for u some good returns. This is just a factor to consider, I guess other wazuans can share their experiences about reliability etc.

300k a month is quite good.as for mercedes i saw one specifically actros 2531 struggling to get out of a quarry while a tata came out with ease and are damn costly.

i didn't think Tata are durable. Most, and even with chinese FAW, are fairly new(not more than 5 years hivi) into the Kenyan market and have not been properly benchmarked. @mawinder, it is probable that what you saw is a pre-owned actross(maybe 8 years old) vs a Tata that could be 1 year old and hence the difference
The only time you should be looking down on others is when you are helping them up.

Those Chinese red tippers doing Thika road have got the job done and road is now complete. They may be no be bad after all and are definitely cheaper than European models such as Actros. Even the Kenya Army has gone Chingchong.
