I have relaxed. Btw swiching to a new counter quickly is alost always a not as profitable. locking in this money till panic central will help investors.

Good PR from KK. I still don't understand why CMA halted their shares after the take over news... Bizarre regulator this CMA...

Read the Annual Report (including the Comprehensive Income) & Notes to the Financial Statement. It was stated that there were some issues with hedging/derivatives.

It's a blip for 6 months. Puma is looking at the longer term. I would say it means:
1) No interim dividend
2) Puma may reduce the payout by 1/-

Overall, it means KK has 'lost' 1/- of earnings which will mean shareholders will 'lose' 1/-.

Since the shares are suspended, it matters little to the share price volatility.

"In the year under review, there was an increase in exchange losses in 2011 by K.Shs. 582M over 2010,mainly arising from fluctuation of local currencies in most countries of operation. Due to the rapid and steep Kenya Shilling fluctuation against the U.S. Dollar, Kenya operation suffered the highest exchanges loss in the year, of K.Shs. 982M, which included substantial Realised losses on hedged forward positions taken on K.Shs/USD exchange. The effect of Realised Loss started in the month of December 2011 and spilled over into the subsequent Financial Year, of which effect, can be seen in Statement of Comprehensive income."

Swali ni, how will KK perform in H1 2012? Segman says the company took a hit from a cargo under the trading desk and also from forward contracts. Indeed he acknowledges KK began 2012 performance on a ''low note''. I have a feeling that even if a profit is made in H1 2012, it will be significantly lower than the 2.157 Billion made last year over the same period.
So maybe a lower interim dividend (if any). Good thing (or bad) is the share is suspended and few people would care about results now!

Why stress? This is like Carbacid when it was suspended. The firm was well-run. A hiccup here & there is ok. It happens to the best of us.

When the KES was falling from 82 to 85 to 90 to 95 to 100 to 105, entering into hedges seemed smart. The huge (& rapid) depreciation from 82 to 105 was unexpected by most.

To strengthen the KES, the interest rates soared.

I believe KK has adjusted to the current situation & back to the money-maker in 2H 2012.

Nkt! Why now? The effect of a takeover announcement might have worn off after 6 weeks. Kuzidisha, there's a profit warning!

Anyway, supply at 15smile
