This has happened again at a shell station(near panafrc). Compared to my usual similar top-ups, this purchase was suprisingly 'less' both distance-wise and at the dashboard meter. Are they standardized??

Always confirm man. The attedants rarely care about your money.

KEBS weights and standardization department calibrates the fuel pumps

Over the weekend ,the attedants usually tamper with them for abvious reasons

I raised the question here a few months back why I fill my 60 liter tank with 65-67 liters and I did not get a satisfactory answer. Something is wrong. I have opted to fill always at Total because the difference is usually immense as compared to when I fill at other petrol stations.

Anything to do with petrol stations is suspect..i did a trip out of town on friday and was amazed to see that even after ERC had published new prices, the old was still reflecting. i made a decision to show these guys that they cannot continue to take guys for a ride, so i asked to fill my tank, which the attendant gladly did.65 ltrs to the good then i pretend to notice they have not effected the price change and i ask why. The manager shows up and claims not to have received official communication from total HQ so i give her a copy of DN. She claims that is not official enough so i say i will not pay and i will report to the authorities while also making it clear to them that it is criminal to surpass ERC ceiling and the consequences thereof. To cut a long story short, they recalculate my bill and say that in the meantime, they will await official communication before adjusting the pumps. i left there smiling but also wondering how many gullible Kenyans were going to or had already lost their precious shillings.

I own a gas station and I can tell u for sure to survive in the business some of us calibrate our pumps to dispense 90% of the fuel bought leaving us with proper margins. Our pump attendants do steal from customers at times.for instance if the previous buyer purchased fuel worth 800 and u want 2000 worth of fuel u get 1200 worth of fuel coz they will simply keep the pump running.as for kebs they are taken care of well.

my rule is to always alight from the car before giving my order. That way i avoid being swindled easily.

What time do u fill ..... I discovered doing it in the morning saves alot, since petroleum expands when its hot

Other than pump calibration, there are obvious figures which are easy to manipulate......so a gas station owner calls a Tech and asks him to manipulate 500,1000,1500,2000,2500,3000....The obvious figures.Anybody who attempts filling at this prices will not get the right quantity of fuel. How to beat the cheats out of their game????......SIMPLE.Always have some loose coins/notes with you and whenever you request for a re-fill,make sure the attendant understands.Ask,say for fuel of Kshs 1045...1736,2023,3007.....Two things will happen, the attendant will act surprised or will salute you.......after you have left.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Njunge you cracked me ujp there. I once did "weka 2533, na usijali aboput change nina coins kibao". The guy was visibly shaken, I didin't know why...maybe this is the reason. But would the pump attendants be in the know about the pump tampering. I think it would be a preserve of the station owner and manager.

My rocal pump station where I fuel 80% of the time uses manual/analog pumps and I bet this @guka skill may not work coz there is nothing digital to play with, its only gears and cams-rollers.
I stand collected though.
