It’s a bit funny that the top on the list are some African countries. It’s also a wonder that Kenyans have to pay even to withdraw money from their accounts. No wonder banks make billions in profits.
I heard there are even banks charging people to deposit their money in their accounts. Most European banks will charge you for the card and pay an account maintenance fee per month but will not charge you to withdraw money. At 18%, no wonder loans are so expensive.

KIASH: yes,banks in kenya charge to deposit and to withdraw.They charge even an ATM withdrawal.banks in developed countries(like in US),they don't charge anything even for using ATM.As for me,I don't complain.They charge me yes,but I get my money back.The dividend income I get compensates for the charges.....

This explains why local businesses cannot compete with a foreign financed entity. And why a hard working Kenyan earning the same as one in the diaspora cannot afford a similar lifestyle.
