No one is ever forced to tithe or give any offering. Actually almost every complainant of any church has to mention money,i am sure even in your church there are people complaining. Ati the youthful rich congregation is an accusation is totally ludicrous.

Mavunos progressive approach may be disturbing for some conservatives like myself, but hating on them is not justifiable. I have sat in their services, and will do so at different times. They are friendly, warm, lively and very welcoming. They gave me tea,a CD and a pencil on my first day. and i like them

'For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God,who said,'Let light shine out of darkness,'made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.' - 2 Cor 4:5-6

Have you ever stopped to wonder why some churches are so successful at drawing and converting sinners? Why do people like Pst. Joel Osteen get the attention of secular viewers who stumble onto his program? Why does he have the biggest church in America? You have your answer right there.

@ thingira

mavuna issue just like many other churches are not uncommon...

in Kenya we currently have about 350 registered churches ( plus other couple of hundred unregistered) preaching not about 350 Gods, but one God. of all these churches i am only farmiliar with 4 which have been in existence for the last more than 40 years, and they are Catholic,AIC,PCEA and SDA. the rest are just derivatives. I wonder which other country in the world has such a huge church turn-over in the registrars registers than Kenya.

the thing is church formation is a thriving lucrative business where easy money is available all the time with no risks at all...its all about MONEY and not God...its a business..

no wonder out of 70,000,000,000 people, only 144,000 will see the heaven..dont quote me on this...

My dear friends. This is a new year with new things.I would suggest we put Mavuno a side and spare our breath on things that can add value to our innerman.i know this is a good topic for discussion and there are many things we can agree to disagree or to ogree on.But then how will this help us? Lets guard our hearts with all dilligence coz out of it come issues of life. The Church is me and you and its good to ask ourself always whether God is really dwelling in our hearts. As for me,i will give this a priority.I desire closer r/ship with him than never b4.i pray that his presence may go with me wherever i go.I dont know about you but thats just me.

Without Holiness no man shall see God.Dear God,mould me to be a vessel of honour at this End times,to remain Obedient to your Word in all situations.Amen!

ok ok @ngwono...always the voice of reason in SK's intelligent madness.

One more comment but not on Mavuno. Just an observation on @thingira's latest post. How did you arrive at the figure of 70 Billion people? Or is it since the beginning of time till...

Time and chance happen to all.

JC is the most extreme person in the bible. No wonder the pharisees could not stand him because they had a set of standards on how things should be done. Remember how outraged they were when Jesus healed on Sabbath. Some of you here sound just like them.

Now if the mavuno is preaching that Jesus is the saviour, the true son of God and he will come again for his bride; the rest are details that do not matter. Christ has to be preached by any means neccesary. FYI when the church started clapping and singing chorus's there was hue and cry,I mean....................how can you make noise in church.............God does not like noise. What happened to the churches that refused to change with the times? They face the danger of extinction. There are no young people to take over.

There is a church for everyone,if you do not like mavuno there are lots of other churches to choose from.

I agree with ngwono... let's move on to more important things! But I do have to say just this one more thing sparked by Kaiganjio below.

Anyhow,I'm at MDT last Sunday. MDT (or Mavuno Downtown) is a 'derivative' of Mavuno's that's currently meeting every Sunday at Ufungamano house and to my suprise,Mavuno's pastor is the one preaching! I learnt that Mavuno is in turn a 'derivative' of Nairobi Chapel which was actually registered in 1952 as Kenya's first non-denominational church! So... that makes 6 churches (you forgot us Anglicans!) that have existed for at least 40 years. And strangely enough... Mavuno's a daughter of one of them!

Too funny by half!

By the way if you go one step back youll note that Nairobi Chapel actually evolved from Nairobi Baptist.

I am a damu Mavuno and loving it.
