I have watched their programmes in UG and if that is what they are bringing here, then i say crap.Connection fee in UG is Kindu 5K and monthly subscription equivalent to Kshs 1000K a month for a 40 channel bouquet.I think DSTV's competitor is a decade away even though i would really love it tommorrowSad .

"The second national digital signal distributor Panafrican Group will today go live with the launch of pay TV service, Startimes on its platform. The service will be on the second generation of Digital Video Broadcast Terrestrial technology (DVB-T2). Panafrican is one of three licensed digital signal distributors. First to be licensed was the KBC subsidiary Signet while Media Owners were also granted a license by the Communications Commission of Kenya."

"However, because Signet is yet to roll out its signal nationwide, Startimes is expected to provide stiff competition for Multichoice which is still restricted to Nairobi with its coverage. Startimes will sell digital set-top boxes at Sh3500 with a one month free subscription. After that users will be required to pay a Sh500 monthly fee to access its bouquet of programs."

So startimes belong to the Chinese! I expect fireworks in the payTV market(They even promise UEFA!)
Conventional thinkers waste time building shelters when they are unnecessary and then have no shelters when they need them the most. Socionomists do the opposite.

For as long as some few premium channels nat geo, Disovery, BBC knowledge, English Soccer etc are not there, it matters little what price is charged, Dstv will continue getting the market

ION, majority of kenyans will live with same old Free to air channels, KBC,Citizen and all

Sadly DSTV has exclusive rights for the really juicy stuff EPL, Natgeo Wild, History, Discovery etc. Very uneven playing field. Thats why other players are lobbying CCK to have DSTV sell some of its rights.

BTW Gova through KBC is a shareholder of DSTV Kenya

They have NatGeo Gold,Animaux and Discovery......Doesn't KISS air EPL?....If it does, then, even though i was sceptic at first, they can mount a serious challenge.

Only EPL matches i've watched on Kiss Tv are those involving relegation bound teams. Once in a long while you get one involving a top 5 team. Can't even broadcast All euro matches!

Anyone tried this Startimes TV?
I retired my DsTV sometime back after what I felt was mistreatment by Multichoice soon after GTV rip-off.

I need to know before I start cohabiting with the Chinese

Startimes seems to be agressively marketing their products. Even my local electrician is stocking their decoders
