It's time we get serious about such things. We are a country of shortcuts. After we do the shortcuts we say Gosh....so sad

From the developers to the renters. Do you know if your rental is safe ama unaingia tu?

I'm sorry but this is like the guys who siphon gas from an oil truck that has rolled.

This is Kenya and the devil is now asking for his shares.

and how are you supposed to know that ?

i,l have to agree with alma on this kindly explain to me how a perfectly good building built with the right specs could come tumbling down...no earthquakes,no bombs nothing plus its not the 1st this has been happening over and over again...Its extremely sad and disheartening...Majority of us like cutting corners at the expense of other imagine if the same house would have been completed and families moved in...

have always wondered about the same, lakini someone told me that the biggest risk is at the construction level before the concrete sets. After that its very unlikely that the building will collapse, since concrete gets stronger with time.

Well it was just a theory, don't know how true it is, any architect in the house can give us facts.

I tend to agree with you. Kenyans are more of a reactive than proactive. I would not be surprised if cracks had developed and nobody was paying attention to them.

Just another case of greedy landlords.

Next!!

Quote:
The building, which was still under construction, caved-in at about 6pm on Saturday

the owner of the building was seen in the second floor inspecting his property moments before it collapsed.

the building appeared to have been constructed on a swampy area and its foundation could not hold the other three-storeys.
