After the conclusion of Bralirwa IPO in Dec 2010, there was an indication that privatization of Rwanda’s key State corporations promises was in high gear and was to offer investment avenue. Among them were Sonarwa, Rwandair, MTN Rwanda, Fina Bank and cement maker Cimerwa.
Why did the river run dry so fast?

There is no point of multiple small exchanges but the problem with a single exchange is who to handle 'currency' trades! If I want to buy Rwandan shares while I have KShs?

Of course, all the shares could be cross-listed!

Crosslisting would be good especially as an EA Shilling is seemingly nowhere near the horizon

MTN Rwanda - the main shareholder MTN exercised preemptive right and bought the GOR shares. Fina Bank - GOR has 8% the rest is in hands of private investors, i wonder if its worth an IPO. Rwandair - in which year will they return a profit? The company is highly subsidised by GOR. The flights to Lagos and Nbi are always like 1/5 full at most. What they need is a strategic investor. CIMERWA - i think they got an strategic investor.
Life is short. Live passionately.

RSE Set for Electronic Trading

The move will pave way for electronic trading of shares and bonds listed on the RSE, phasing out the open (manual) trading system, which capital market regulator, Capital Markets Authority (CMA), says is unappealing to foreign companies and investors.

CMA in collaboration with the central bank and the central depository in Nairobi implemented a project that allows electronic holding of shares as opposed to holding of a paper certificate as proof of owning shares in the company.

But trading is still done manually.
