After the conclusion of Bralirwa IPO in Dec 2010, there was an indication that privatization of Rwanda’s key State corporations promises was in high gear and was to offer investment avenue. Among them were Sonarwa, Rwandair, MTN Rwanda, Fina Bank and cement maker Cimerwa.
Why did the river run dry so fast?
MTN Rwanda - the main shareholder MTN exercised preemptive right and bought the GOR shares. Fina Bank - GOR has 8% the rest is in hands of private investors, i wonder if its worth an IPO. Rwandair - in which year will they return a profit? The company is highly subsidised by GOR. The flights to Lagos and Nbi are always like 1/5 full at most. What they need is a strategic investor. CIMERWA - i think they got an strategic investor.
Life is short. Live passionately.
