Is this economically viable? I read, it is mainly meant for the tourist, who will be connecting from JKIA, instead of going by road from Nairobi.

Just wondering, if Kisumu flight is 45 minutes, how long would the Nakuru one be? 20 minutes? Before you settle in your seat, you are already landing? And how much would the fare be?

According to an allafrica.com article written late last year, the Airport is for handling flight diversions from JKIA instead of diverting them to Msa or Entebbe. I didnt know such a project was underway!

Think of all the flowers and fresh vegetables bound for Europe from Naivasha/Nyahururu and the trucks that jam M-road in the morning and evening.

Apart from Passengers what else is exported from Kisumu?

A recent released report by UN depicts Nakuru as the fastest growing town in Kenya.

It makes more sense to invest/buy land in Nakuru than in Mombasa.

Haiya, must everything be in that context, our problem is really big.
All the first big cities/towns in Kenya have airports, the next one in line is Nakuru.

This has made my morning.....apart from Nakuru, the other important airports are Isiolo and Lodwar. Eldoret was a white elephant but i understand it handles more cargo than JKIA

Its okay to build airports all over.
But airports as we all know don't operate like bus stops.(machakos)

I think we are talking about regional airlines and small airports like wilson.

Eldoret as it is still struggling to maintain its cargo capacity.Infact one airline withdrew recently due to lack of sufficient cargo.
Its just a loss for the airline if there's no biz so if we don't consider some factors we shall end up with cows grazing on airports instead.

Besides, the Kenya market is mostly a cargo one outbound ie not pax.
Perishables is seasonal.

Nway,I think they should construct one in meru(khat)
Nakuru/Naivasha>> Perishables only.
Lodwar/Isiolo>> NGO's
Eldoret airport>> Silenced
Mombasa>> Tourists
Kisumu>> Hyacinth and Omena

I think the whole Kenya is represented.

Whatever.

I think all the industries withdrawn from this region by previous governments need to be revived.

@Pariah, ditto!
