What is the best climate for growing Apples and how long do they take before they mature?

mine took around three years..though quality is wanting.i planted two feet plantlets, dug them out the way we do with banana suckers.

What about the climate?

any place above 1700 metres above sea-level will do well.
But my plants are in ruiru..about 1570m asl..so more nutrients and water are required.

the best place would at nyahururu, eldoret, molo, limuru etc
