Actually people have been paying taxes on rent income. Just that Njiraini has decided to mulika mwizi in this sector. I wonder whats with the panic

We need to realize there are more tenants than landlords in this country. That tax will be pushed to the tenants & we'll see who'll be the net losers at the end. 2ndly, a high minimum rent tax threshold should be set, OTW, forget about middle to low cost housing investments by private investors unless GoK is ready to fill the gap that'll be created.

On the otherhand, this might spark a large migration of tenants from the West to the East of Uhuru highway in the short to medium term to the glee of landlords on the East. What will happen to the pre-existing tenants of the East will be left in God's hands.

Another dynamic is tenants will be coerced into mortgages & the developers, lawyers & bankers will go obese! smile

Some taxes are best suited for middle income (post-Vision 2030) to Developed economies. Not economies that are still scrubbing their way up like Kenya! (Investment/Devt. stage)

9000k is below the minimum paye-able amount

This is where some of that tax money will be spend and to also buy helicopters for judges and i ask why not?the money is flowing from the kenyan taxpayer
