I have the intention to buy a car, from the many guys who import they give a CIF Mombasa price.
How much more will i have to cough out after paying the CIF price.

import duty
value added tax
import declaration fees
registration fees
shipping agency fees
kpa handling fees
clearing agent fees

Looks like too many charges... but Fear Not...
Your main concern should be the import duty.
If you can pay this, you can afford the rest!
And advantage is that you can get the amount calculated before you buy the car.

Do not forget insurance once the car arrives.
If you leave in Nairobi, drivers cost.
Knock hard and it will be opened. Ask and you will be answered. Seek and you shall find.

- vehicle maintenance (including pimping your ride)
- Ease of travel leading to improved standard of living/ increased spending in entertainment
- temptation to upgrade vehicle leading cost of newer vehicle.
