My rectangular underground water tank keep on leaking after recent resealing, the guy advised me that i should have constructed it circular, i am thinking of redoing it again but the cost is putting me off, anybody with this kind of experience before?

The shape does not really matter provided it is designed to take the pressures it will be subjected to. i.e soil pressure when empty and water pressure when full and outside is not backfilled. Nway, Is it in reinforced concrete or in Masonry blocks? was it waterproofed during construction? water retaining structures need to be waterproofed. There are various specialists dealing with waterproofing. e.g Mau West http://mauwest.co.ke/contact%20us.html, they have various products and will even advise you on which one to use given what ur tank is constructed of.

It is always advisable to waterproof anything underground including septic tanks. I went to some place 2wks ago and found some septic full of water which interestingly I was made to understand was sipping through from the water table. It can get messy.

Give me your email i link you up with a fundi who did my two tanks, both semi-underground,and have not had any problem. The fundis who did them used such a simple technology- machine cut stones, no water proofing-, until u doubted them but they gave me such a good guarantee. One of my tanks is 5 yrs old and the other two yrs and both have no leaks at the moment.

@Afrcan coloner ;-same problem ours is rectangular holds around 30,000 litres and it seems to be loosing water though it was waterproofed,so should the sides and floor be redone again...coz its just a waste of funds.

i have done it twice and it continues leaking halfway, i have been advised several times that t should have been done circular.

@gathige, mine is underground with hard stones from naivasha and waterproofed though still leaking
