.

A breakdown of the budget reveals several loopholes and inconsistencies.
1. Why spend 4 billion on civic education and 1.?b on voter education? Anybody who is not educated does not deserve the vote. (universal suffrage is a fallacy).
2. The money budgeted for buying vehicles is outrageous.
3. Why pay for security when then police will provide it?
4. The recurrent expenditure needs to be scrutinized in finer detail

That is my beef with them!! They have been using hired vehicles. They prefer BUYING new ones this time round.
My question is,why pump billions into buying new vehicles for a short term project.I say short term cz these vehicles will not be in the same condition come 2018.ie if they will even be there. It's just a scandal in the making.

Why pay Ksh. 500 per person to the lawyers administering the oaths? These oaths are not individual but group oaths eg in all Kasarani electoral officials will congregate at the stadium and in exactly one minute, almost a thousand persons take the oath. .

from a poster.

And here I was thinking that this was an E-Election!!

My comment was in relation to the party hoppers, not the 31B budget!!!

Kenya’s poll among world’s most expensive
http://www.standardmedia...e/?articleID=2000057945

If a budget of Sh35 billion were approved, it would work out to some $10 per person and a whopping $23 per voter.

When Nicaragua went to the polls in 1990 in the wake of the brutal Sandinista regime, it spent $11.8 per voter.

Angola spent $22 a voter in 1992 in the first elections after a 17-year civil

Liberia ($6.1)

El Salvador ($4.1)

much of the cost went to peacekeeping operations.
“Low costs of about $1 to $3 per voter are common in the United States and most of Western Europe,”

“A number of nations around the world also report low costs, including Benin ($1.6), Botswana ($2.7), Ghana ($0.7) and Senegal ($1.2) in Africa.”

We can't even afford it! that is the sad part.
Richer countries spend less but here we are as usual trying to reach out to what we cant afford.
Even the excuses given aren't good enough cz we aren't that unique.

This is what will happen,We will be forced go begging for funds and the donors will determine how the elections will go.
The vote is already cast!

I feel very sad for this NationSad
