@FundamentAli, True Colors was the only song in Cyndi Lauper's second album that she DID NOT write.

The song was written by Billy Steinberg about his mother (with Tom Kelly's help).

How many of you have sang along to Cindy Laupers tune 'True colours'? Sounds a very innocent song. See rink below for the true meaning

@Muganda, the song has adopted for political use. Innocent as it may have been intended, it is now an anthem for those who live an alternative life style. You would be associated with such a group unknowingly

Below is a extract of an interview by the song writer
Billy: Another interesting thing was that the artist India.Arie used to perform "True Colors" in her concerts. I wish she'd record the song. Cyndi Lauper told me over the telephone, "You have no idea, when I play it live it's almost like a gay anthem." I guess more than any other song that Tom and I wrote, that one seems to have the most universal appeal.

Why bring up the old topic dressed up as new?

Again facts are getting lost in this thread as the previous one. It seems some guys must push an agenda however silly it sounds.

Follow Muganda's link. Cindy lauper didn't write the song and the author of the song has stated why he wrote it.

So you lose out on those, not one, but twos facts. Now you bring in the issue of gays adopting a song. So if you sing the song, you are gay or support gays.

Its like complaining that liverpool "you'll never walk alone" was created to make all humans liverpool fans. Or Manchester City's "blue moon" was written to destroy man united.

Some of the arguments I see on this forum border on the ridiculous or fundamentalism of the worst kind.
