it is not justified but serves the AID industry to remain as it is, the perceived basket case where everyone is starving or waiting to be ravaged by disease or both

I got no issues with the negative image but they need to also report on progress for balance.

Everything they wrote in that article is true except for the Kony 2012. All I can say is that its just a ploy so as to make other people not want to invest/live in Africa because its cheap at the moment and in the next five or ten years, all we will see is western businesses have camped in Africa. I travelled to Latin America and Asia and all I could see were the big corporations from the West and low standards of living for the ordinary citizen. An example is that of a mall in Miraflores in Peru where the clothing, shoes, glasses, etc etc are selling double the places compared to those in Europe and America. And the funniest thing is that people just shop without critically thinking for themselves while the people who work there are paid 700 nuevo soles a month, not even enough to rent a house.

Perhaps the issue is not what they see, but how we see ourselves?
