Kenya power is just after profits but not service delivery. At this rate money is becoming useless, everything on the rise from fuel,elec,NHIF and food. Kenya is getting harder everyday economically. Kenya ni yetu sisi sote

I was shocked by the price of milk! One day it's 30/- the next it was 44/- I hope the milk farmers increased their prices as well.

As we're busy fighting NHIF, KPLC sneaks in this. I bet you most Kenyans don't know the implications while this is far worse than NHIF.

Pet projects for the naked emperor will and will always be infrastructure, utilities and security. These are the areas where you will find the emperor's financiers. There are numerous books, videos, documentaries by their former employees (economic hitmen/women) that record and tell the story.
I also expect the food subsidies to be scrapped in this year's KE's budget since more multi-lateral funds are coming.

Question to anyone who might know: When KPLC transfers you to the new meter, are they refunding the refundable deposit from the postpaid system?

Add to that fuel cost charge forex adjustment Inflation adjustment, ERC levy REP levy VAT For a long time fuel cost charge has been higher than actual consumption at about shs 7.00-8.00 per Kwh. Just wondering why Kenyans are quite about using solar to power our homes and other needs. Is there a rule that is prohibiting use of solar panels within the city? Wasn't the duty on panels reduced to encourage the use of clean power?. The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts while the stupid ones are full of confidence

QD you might be onto something. Alternative energy is the way to go especially for lighting and heating water. In Nigeria most households have a generator, an inverter and mains supply. @ kyt prices for clean power depending on household needs, begin at 100K. http://www.cekl.comNow based on the traffic witnessed on Kenyan roads, we know Kenyans will borrow to buy a vehicle so why not borrow for clean power? KPLC tariffs are based on demand and supply. Reduce your demand and let us see whether they will continue to increase their tariffs.

I offer my experience upcountry An 80watts Panel /Battery/Inverter Costing less than Kshs 90,000 is able to light 4roomed house (energy saving) Power Colourd Tv and Radio and charge phones. This is on the basic level and a restricted inverter. For cooking there is biogas that is generated from cattle waste that is in most homes of kenyans be it zero grazed or field grazing.( By the way setting this up is around kes 40,000 and has been discussed sometimes back here in wazua) Hence we just need to look for alternatives to survive. The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts while the stupid ones are full of confidence
