Ngai fafa...!!!!!!!!! 18 what?? And wont the company pass the cost to the consumer? surely,is Kiraitu for real??? How come no one has pointed a finger at this fellow despite all the complaints here??? How does he expect companies to expand and kenya to meet the vision 2030 with these kinds of costs?

Some deals are like glass. Sometimes it's better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together.

@Wendz,

...And i think this would look like kidstuff since this particular firm produces much of it's power and only uses KPLC for emergencies......Wait until we see bills from the cement firms.....!!....We will surely scream...

I looked at mine and the units had short up after that increament.Has it happened to you because I think that should be the picketing's start point!

And these spats between KPLC and Kengen,do they happen in other countries or its only in Kenya where we cant get things right? And where will it end?Thought this was a free market and one can sell his(kengen) goods at whatever price!

I wish they also improve their services and come up with some service level agreement to protect the consumer whenever there are power outages that results to loss of revenue by businessmen. This is due to increased fixed charges which are charged even when there are constant power outages.

I wonder why they are quick to charge disconnection fees whenever one has delayed to pay power bills but cannot disconnect power when a customer cancels supply. I have had a nasty experience in one of its offices. I paid all bills including disconnection fees mid June and asked them to disconnect power by end of June but they never did it and I have continued to receive bills. I made several trips to their office and was letter informed they had disconnected the power. I do not understand why I still receive bills with zero consumption but with substantial fixed charges. I have photocopied the cancellation sheets and my ID on multiple times as they keep insisting that the documents were missing.

Some empoyees at this office are just not performing. I was once kept waiting for over 15 minutes by the employee who ignored my presence and continued playing computer games. He later turned to me and said the system was down and hence could not attend to me. Today I visited the same office and was kept waiting in the office for 45 Minutes! We urgently need a competitor in the power distribution field.

u know i got my elec bill and i was like..wah!!i started looking for an aquarium that might have been installed in my absence..

but hear its crazy even to staff, who used to have a staff tarriff that at most, employees would pay 5sok.now they r feeling the effects of inflated elec bills jus like all of us 'common'wananchi..

this is crazy..& how soon do we expect the tarriffs to go down?when the dams fill up or what?!

If u want to predict the future, create it.

My understanding of this power saga.Suppose 1 kwh is sold to kplc at 10 bob, this is the split:

Kengen-2 bob,kplc-3bob and IPPs-5 bob.Who would want this state of affairs to continue?

Every year Kenyans fork out over a billion shillings or so to pay for the thermal component. And the prices of oil are still escalating and the rains are becoming poorer! Thus it means we shall continue paying for the thermal component for the rest of our lives....and burn billions of shillings that could have been used to construct environment-friendly and cheap sources of power!

And who owns IPPs(Independent Power Producers) any way?I think its time the gava bought them and burn tax-free oil without a profit motive! The bills will instanly come down. AFTER ALL WE ARE THE TAX PAYERS!!!Ama Kenya turirogwa???

Me,I don’t even know what to say

I used to pay 700 ama 800,the bill came to 11k,I complained and complained, they threw me out and told me to pay first

But funny enough,my landlord’s bill went from 6k to 30bob,I don’t know who is the culprit here,my landlord or KPLC or both
